I mean you only have to look at the opening ceremony for the Olympics when they didn't let the little girl sing, and substituted her for a "better looking" child. It is pure communist propaganda, they want to portray the perfect image. And that doesn't stop by trying to show the rest of the world that they are a dominant power a fantastic race of people and a jazzy corner of the world to live in, they need to make their own people believe it, time and time again. So they setup this strict censorship so that their own people can't get direct access to stories showing fuck ups that the government have made. All about the perfect image... smile your government loves you ;) There is too much to pick at with the Chinese.. and as my wife is Chinese, i had better lay off. haha. Dave.
